چکیده

Adenocarcinoma is relatively less common on the tongue.[1] Polymorphous low‐grade adenocarcinoma (PLGA) is a malignant tumor of minor salivary glands which is slow growing and carries a low metastatic potential. Histologically, PLGA exhibits a spectrum of growth patterns such as cribriform, tubular, trabecular, fascicular and solid structures. Concentric whorls forming target‐like patterns are noted as prominent finding. The nuclear features appear to be bland. Invasion of the perineural spaces and other adjacent tissues is typical. Despite this invasive growth pattern of PLGA, the overall prognosis remains to be favorable.[2,3]

Polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma of the tongue: a case report

INTRODUCTION Polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma is a distinct neoplasm of the salivary gland composed of luminal and non-luminal tumor cells admixed in varying proportions. Its resemblance to lobular carcinoma of the breast had led to its earlier nomenclature of 'terminal duct carcinoma'. Most patients present with an asymptomatic mass in the hard palate. In rare cases, the mass can also occ...

Polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma.

Polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinomas are minor salivary gland neoplasms with a predilection for intraoral sites. Women are affected twice as frequently as men, and generally present in the fifth to sixth decade of life with a painless ihaoral mass. The palatal mass is, on average, about 2 cm in greatest dimension. The tumors are submucosal, identified below an intact mucosa as a well-circumsc...

Novel PRKD gene rearrangements and variant fusions in cribriform adenocarcinoma of salivary gland origin.

Polymorphous low-grade adenocarcinoma (PLGA) and cribriform adenocarcinoma of minor salivary gland (CAMSG) are low-grade carcinomas arising most often in oral cavity and oropharynx, respectively. Controversy exists as to whether these tumors represent separate entities or variants of one spectrum, as they appear to have significant overlap, but also clinicopathologic differences. As many saliva...
